Many beginners try to rank for broad words like "pizza" or "shoes." These are very hard to compete for because every big company in the world wants them.

Instead, try to find Long-Tail Keywords. These are longer, more specific phrases like "best gluten-free pizza in London" or "red running shoes for beginners." These phrases have less competition, which means it is much easier for your small business to reach the top of the page.

Where to Put Your Keywords

Once you find a great phrase, you need to put it in the right places on your website. This tells Google what your page is about.

Place your main keyword in your headline and in the first few sentences of your post. Use it again in your subheadings to keep the page organized.
